Vaghareli Rotli - Chapatti Curry

                Vaghareli Rotli is a Gujarati traditional Recipe. In English, we can define as chapatti curry. Sound strange? It is nothing but chopped roti(chapatti) in butter milk (yoghurt sauce). In Gujarat, it is also known as Rotli nu Shaak means roti ki subji. It is a whole wheat Indian flatbread curry. Majorly it is made from leftover roti (chapatti).
                Do you have stale roti(chapatti)? Don’t know what to do with leftover rotli (roti-chapatti)? How to use leftover chapattis - rotis? This is the recipe using leftover chapattis – rotis. It is a very quick and easy to make recipe. You can make it in 5-10 minutes and can get very tempting and tangy flavored snack. You can also have it in lunch and dinner as well with Paratha or Gujarati Bhakhri.

Ingredients:

                Rotli (roti-chappati) – 5-6
                Curd – ¾ cup
                Water – 1 ½ glass
                Oil – 1 tbs
                Mustard seed – ½ ts
                Red chili powder – 1 ts
                Turmeric powder – ¼ ts
                Cumin powder – ½ ts
                Coriander powder – ½ ts
                Salt – to taste   
                Garlic chutney – 1 ts

Method:

1.       In deep bowl, add curd and water and blend them well and make butter milk.(here you can also add directly water and then beaten curd.)
2.       Now heat sauce pan, add oil.
3.       Add mustard seed.
4.       When mustard seed spluttered add above butter milk.
5.       Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt, and garlic chutney mix well.
6.       Boil for 3-4 minutes in high flame.
7.       Mean while, cut chapatti in nachos shape or in roughly big shape.
8.       After 3-4 minutes at medium heat, add those chapatti in pan, mix well; cook for a minute.
9.       Your delicious VAGHARELI ROTLI (ROTLI NU SHAAK – ROTI KI SUBJI – CHAPATTI CURRY) is ready to heat.

Serving Tip:

                If you want to have it as snack, no need any accompaniment. It is a one – pot meal. If you want to consume as a lunch or a dinner, it goes well with Paratha or Gujarati Bhakhri and sliced onion also.
