          Unfortunately human race is currently under going one of the biggest pandemic of history, i.e. covid – 19.Corona virus may live with us for some more days or months. In this pandemic situation we should change our life style and should give more focus on our hygienic. like wash hands frequently, avoid unnecessary touch, eat healthy, improve immunity etc. During these days our worries make us read many a things related with what to eat, how to eat, how to wash vegetables and fruits, how to safely cook, how to sanitise our groceries, etc. 


          Here are some of the safety tips for easy, healthy and affordable eating food during this pandemic of corona virus.


Tips to wash vegetables and fruits during corona virus


  • Should not wash with soap. Soap is not meant to be used to clean vegetable and fruits. Because soap residual remains or even it gets absorbed by vegetables and fruits.

  • If you are more concerned about your fruits and vegetables, there is a safer way to obtain peace of mind – just cook them.

  • Bake vegetables and fruits at 100°C – 130°C for 3-4 minutes. Experts says that corona virus cannot survive at 65°C after 3 minutes. Sometimes you cannot cook vegetables or fruits and if you really want to eat them raw, you can bake them at 100°C to 130°C for 3 to 4 minutes. Due to this process majority of the vegetables and fruits may not see much difference.

  • Soak in hot water. One more safer way is to soak vegetables and fruits in hot water. As experts, if corona virus cannot survive more than 3 minutes at 65°Celsius, you can soak them in hot water for 4-5 minutes. Than wash with normal water and keep them aside or can store in refrigerator.


Tips to sanitise or disinfect groceries:


  • Corona virus can not survive more than 9 days on any surfaces such as plastic, polythene, paper, cardboard, metal, etc. at room temperature. So these groceries which does not have expiry date of less than 9 days, could be placed/stored in untouched area at home. It will get sanitise of its own after 9 days. There after it is safe to use/consume. However in case further precautions are required than please follow below process.

  • Packets can be soaked in soapy water. Like milk packets, curd packets, paneer packets, frozen peas and frozen corn packets can be soaked in soapy water. But be sure that those packets should be of plastic packets and should not be leaked or puffed. Also ensure to wash them back with normal water.

  • Plastic packs and hard cardboard packs those are not fully air tight such as bread packets, cookies packets and groceries packets, you can wipe them through soapy cloths. And further clean it through mildly wet cloth.

  • Always keep sanitised items separately.

  • ensure you wash your hands before and after touching and/or fruits, vegetables and groceries.
